Curriculum Overview

Subjects are organised into 6 Areas of Learning as outlined below. Each Area of Learning is lead by an Area Lead and 2 Teaching, Learning and Progress Leads.

At Newport High School our Integrity curriculum is led by Area Lead- Miss L Howells and taught by teachers across the 6 Areas of Learning. The integrity curriculum is purposefully planned using Jigsaw resources. Jigsaw is a whole-school approach to PSE and Health & Well-being, which includes coverage of the statutory RSE code. Each year group studies the same learning theme at the same time, really spiralling the learning up through the age groups. The Jigsaw 11-16 Programme includes six units of study, each with six lessons, designed to be taught sequentially throughout the school year, one per term, as follows:

3. Dreams and Goals
4. Healthy Me
5. Relationships
6. Changing Me
