Dear Parent/Carer

Further to the text that was sent prior to Christmas half term, I am now able to provide you with the information you require for our Year 9 into Year 10 GCSE Pathways option evening on Monday 13th January 2025 5.00 – 6.45pm.

To support you and your child in selecting appropriate and engaging courses, the evening will provide an opportunity to listen to presentations from myself as Head of Year and subject teachers which will also include time for questions. Please note that this is not a parents’ evening and therefore no discussion around current progress will take place. The discussions should be about students’ suitability for the course, subject content and desirable entry requirements.

There are 3 key things to consider when choosing which subjects your child will study for their GCSEs.

These are:

• What subjects do they enjoy?

• What subjects are they achieving their best in?

• What careers are they thinking about following in the future and what subjects do they need to study in order to pursue this career?

Plan for the evening

There will be a Head of year presentation at 5.00pm in the main hall with core subject area leads outlining the process of the evening and course specific content.

There will then be four presentations for each subject at the following times;

5.20 - 5.35pm

5.40 - 5.55pm

6.00 - 6.15pm

6.20 – 6.35pm
